Viewing: Visitation will be held in the Rhome Funeral Home Inc. 1209 Grand Blvd. Monessen, on Tuesday from 2-4 and 6-8.

Services: Funeral services will be held in the chapel of the Funeral Home on Wednesday at 11am with the Rev. Lori Walters, pastor of the First United Methodist Church, Charleroi, officiating. Interment will follow in Grandview Cemetery, Monessen. American Legion Post #28 services will be held in the Funeral Home Tuesday evening at 7pm followed by BPOE#773 services at 7:30pm.

In Lieu of flowers memorial contributions can be made to the First United Methodist Church, Charleroi or Amedysis hospice through the Funeral Home.

 

Obituary:

William "Bill" Salak, 86, of Monessen, passed on Sunday December 13, 2015 in his residence. He was born on January 4, 1929 in Monessen, son of the late Michael and Eva Pucher Salak. Bill was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Charleroi where he had served as a usher, cub scout leader, and former Pastor Parish Relations. Mr. Salak served his country during the Korean Conflict in the Army, serving with the 10th Signal Core. He was a lifetime member of the American Legion Post #28 in Monessen and a lifetime member of the BPOE #773 in Monessen where he was elected Elk of the year. He also enjoyed playing golf and was an avid gardener. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister; Catherine Kizakevich.


Survivors include his loving wife of 62 years; Rosalie Robinsky Salak,
children and grand children; Janet and Timothy Stevenson of Monessen, Shelly Rhome (Matthew), Carrie Anderson (Brian), Doris Opalinski of Arnold, TeddiLee Sweeney, Adam Opalinski, Thomas and Cynthia Salak of Monessen, Chelsey Salak, Brian Salak, Michael Salak and husband Moyer Harris III of Tampa FL, Frank Salak of Monessen, and eight great grandchildren.
